Ftp server probleem (dynamic ip)

hi ppl

just had an question about the ftp server g6...
i installed the prog. and it work's fine but if somebody is in and dl then when the ip change's (DHCP) the can't go on.
How can i fix this problem so anybody can log on to it even when the ip changes.
(excuse the english)

ok i already got that but then i have to phone my friend everytime the ip changes.....
so that doesn't help much to or not??

Probably you're out of luck. It's either calling or getting a fixed-ip line.

you can get a fixed host on internet
if you're computer gets another ip adress
a client will upload you're ip address
immediately, so you're friends can always connect to ftp://blabla.dyn.dhs.org

if you're computer changes of ip adress, they'll have to reconnect only,

All the above options are indeed very usable for your kind of purpose. dhs.org is probably the best option as it is for free and reliable. If you however want to link a straight .com .net .org .nl etc. domain name to your host , you can link the .com for instance to your dhs address , which will dynamically refer to your actual IP address which you have at that moment. This way you can run a steady web server even with a modem connection (not that anybody would want this .. )
