Galactic Civilizations II: Endless Universe aangekondigd

Ontwikkelaar Stardock werkt aan een expansion pack voor de turn-based strategische game Galactic Civilizations II. Het wordt de derde uitbreiding voor het spel, die de titel 'Endless Universe' meekrijgt.

Ik volg de link (nieuwsgierig, omdat ik van Stardock's kant hier niks van heb gehoord):

Kalypso Media != Stardock. Ze geven in Europa spellen uit voor Stardock. Verder is dit NIET het derde expansion-pack. Het is een re-release van de GalCiv II serie met waarschijnlijk wat mods toegevoegd, voor de Europese markt.

Ik lees het anders. In het persbericht heeft Stardock/Kalypso het zelf over "Endless Universe; the new stand-alone add-on for the acclaimed strategy game Galactic Civilizations II". Ik maak daaruit op dat het om een nieuwe, derde uitbreiding gaat en niet om het opnieuw uitbrengen van de game met de twee bestaande uitbreidingen. Maar je zou gelijk kunnen hebben, hoor. Het persbericht is nogal vaag...

Maar, wat lees je dan. In het artikel heb je het over Stardock. Ik zie het in persbericht nergens Stardock staan.

The battle for galactic supremacy continues in Endless Universe; the new stand-alone add-on for the acclaimed strategy game Galactic Civilizations II, to be published by Kalypso Media at the end of August 2008. A stand-alone version, it requires no additional purchase and also includes the two previously released add-ons: Dark Avatar and Twilight Of the Arnor.

Galactic Civilizations II is the best selling strategy game in the United States, has received several awards, and spent a number of weeks in the U.S. Top Ten Game Charts. Endless Universe builds on the epic story, following on from Dark Avatar and Twilight of Arnor.

Thanks to Dark Avatar the different races now have multiple characteristics which adds variety and fun during the game. Now, the races range from “super-diplomatist” to “super-destroyer”. Also, Dark Avatar provides the planets with environmental conditions. Thus, the player needs to decide whether he wants to invest into research and development or leave the planet to a hostile player. Furthermore, Dark Avatar presents new scenes, new challenges, asteroids which can be used as mines, new races, and a new version of the spy system.

Further differences in characteristics between the races are provided by Twilight of the Arnor. Here, the player can experience new features, starting with individual developments to race-specific weapons, skills and buildings. In addition, there are sensational improvements to the planets, many new star ships, a much bigger galaxy, and a new soundtrack! On top of that, “Twilight of the Arnor” includes editors for the planets, scenario, and technological development.

Verder, Stardock heeft aangekondigd dat ze GEEN derde expansion-pack uit gaan brengen. Wel een aantal updates voor de vorige veries. De volgende in de serie word GalCiv III, maar vanaf waneer deze ontwikkeld gaat worden, is nog niet bekend. Surf eens naar het GalCiv forum, daar kun je alles vinden.

Kalypso Media is de uitgever die een aantal games van ontwkkelaar Stardock in Europa op de markt brengt. Daaronder CalCiv2 en Sins of the Solar Empire. Vandaar dat zij de aankondiging doen. Dat is doorgaans de taakverdeling; ontikkelaar maakt, uitgever brengt op de markt en doet pr. Maar zover ik weet is Stardock geen onderdeel van Kalypso. Op zich ook niet erg interessant trouwens, of Stardock en Kalypso hetzelfde zijn. En nogmaals, je zou best gelijk kunnen hebben, maar ik lees het persbericht nog steeds anders. Wat mij betreft staat er dat er een derde uitbreiding. Een "a standalone third expansion" zoals het in het persbericht heet... Ik kan daar toch weinig anders van maken.

Ik wil hier niet eens op reageren. Een blogger doet gvd nog meer moeite om een fatsoenlijk stuk te schrijven. Als ik het zo lees heb je geen enkele vorm van fact-checking gedaan en weet je niet eens wie/wat Stardock is. Je leest wat, en maakt er met je eigen interpretatie een stukje van, maar of het ook maar enigszins klopt/op waarheid berust, doet er niet toe.

Die blogger heeft vast ook normen en waarden over het communiceren in fora?

Ik blog niet. En als ik het nog eens teruglees, valt het zelfs nog binnen de huidige waarden en normen. De 3 letters niet, maar ik zag geen andere mogelijkheid om mijn frustratie kenbaar te maken: Kalypso Media != Stardock, maar in het artikel word Kalypso wel vervangen door Stardock. Er word toegegeven dat Kalypso != Stardock, maar het blijft wel gewoon staan in het artikel. Vervolgens blijkt uit de reactie dat er eigenlijk helemaal niet bekend is wat/wie Stardock uberhaupt is. Dat kan gewoon niet. Zeker niet omdat Stardock en Galatic Civilizations inherent aan elkaar verbonden zijn (originele maker van GC is niet geheel toevallig eigenaar van Stardock, die overigens wel vrij actief blogt en bekend staat om zijn soms botte, directe, arrogante, maar wel eerlijke/correcte forum-posts)

Je geeft aan dat Kalypso Media en Stardock hetzelfde bedrijf zijn. Ik kan daar geen sporen van vinden. Zover ik weet is Stardock Corporation een Amerikaanse ontwikkelaar die al sinds 1991 bestaat. Kalypso Media is een Duitse uitgever die in 2006 is opgericht. Ik kan niet ontdekken dat de twee bedrijven zijn samengegaan en volgens mij is dat ook niet zo. Kalypso geeft CalCiv2 en Sins of a Solar Empire (ook van Stardock) uit in Europa, dat is zover ik na kan gaan de enige samenwerking tussen de twee.

??? Ik geef aan dat Kalypso en Stardock juist NIET hetzelfde zijn. Het artikel impliceert dit wel door Kalypso blindelings te vervangen door Stardock.
