Ik heb overigens ook besloten bij WCG te blijven tijdens de stampede. Het is niet veel maar er moet toch wel een paas man output blijven genereren.

Volgens mij ga ik een paar dagen doen over plek 28. Heb me buiten de stemming gehouden, dus kan rustig hier door blijven stampen.

Omdat er in het vorige topic geen reactie meer kwam hier maar een schaamteloze dubbelpost:

Eh, kan iemand mij misschien op weg helpen met de commandline linux BOINC? Ik heb het programma inmiddels geinstalleerd en kan het ook starten via /path/boinc. Ik krijg dan de output op het scherm en hij gaat gewoon bezig. Dit wil ik natuurlijk niet en ik zou dan ook graag willen starten via

Dit werkt echter niet, hij lijkt te starten en ik krijg ook een pid:

en daarna helemaal niks meer. Via "top" is boinc ook niet te traceren...

Dat is probleem 1, probleem 2 is dat ik nergens kan vinden hoe ik deze client aan mijn boinc account kan koppelen zodat de geproduceerde output bij mijn stats wordt opgeteld... Weet iemand hoe ik dit instel?

Owwja: ik draai op een opensuse 10.2 systeem. (Met VIA C7 op 1500Mhz, ben benieuwd hoeveel output dat gaat geven maar alles is meegenomen zullen we maar zeggen Hij staat wel 24/7 aan dus dat scheelt al iets.)

probleem 2 kun je oplossen door ./boincmgr te starten in /home/simon/programs/BOINC
Daar kun je opgeven welk project je wil draaien en onder welke naam, bij welk team enz.

met inserv boinc toevoegen en probleem 1 zou ook opgelost moeten zijn, wel even mijn naam en pad veranderen naar jou omgeving.

Gaat boincmgr van een grafische omgeving uit? Ik krijg namelijk de melding: is display set properly? Kan de server alleen via de terminal beheren dus dan gaat dat niet werken natuurlijk...

account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml

deze file moet in de boinc directory staan, mag van een andersysteem gecopieerd worden. Deze bevat namelijk je account informatie. De boincmgr is inderdaad grafisch, instellen zonder de manager heb ik nog nooit gedaan, wel account files van pc naar pc gecopied.

Ik heb het genoemde bestand opgezocht en vergeleken met het bestand dat mijn desktop gebruikt maar deze zijn al identiek, hier staat in beide geen deelnemers of teaminfo in...

Wat betreft probleem 1: gewoon botweg ./boinc >/dev/null & werkt prima quick and dirty zegmaar... Zo heb ik vermoedelijk geen logging maar zolang het werkt vind ik het prima.

klopt, het veld <authenticator> is je boinc account info, deze is bij WCG bekent en die koppelen dat aan de info die bij mygrid / myprofile en bij mygrid / myteam staat ingevuld op de www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyMemberPage.do . Vooral die laatste is belangrijk om hier in de stats te komen.

Zelfs die (md5) authenticator code komt in beide bestanden exact overeen... De code die in het bestand op de server staat heb ik rechtstreeks van de boinc site geplukt. En mijn stats van mijn desktop komen toch keurig steeds in de dpch te staan... Ik volg het nu echt even niet meer dus

Ik kwam er daarnet achter dat ik in een divice menu op de wcg site kon kijken welke devices er voor mij geregistreerd zijn. Hier staat de server toch tussen... Die code zal dan dus toch wel kloppen op de één of andere manier.

Het lijkt dus vooralsnog prima te gaan, ik wacht het even af om te zien of er ook WU's ingeleverd gaan worden.

Niet helemaal wat anonimoes zoekt (iig niet qua OS)... maar ik heb aan deze FAQ nog wel eea gehad om het onder Debian aan het praten te krijgen. Als je de install-stappen overslaat (qua apt-get) enzo maar even kijkt hoe de config gedaan wordt daar moet het misschien wel lukken.

Heb inmiddels via de wcg site ook die key achterhaald. De e-mail waar dit in zou moeten staan kon ik niet meer terugvinden... Deze key komt inderdaad overeen met de key die in beide bestanden staat. Wat er gebeurd is is het volgende waarschijnlijk: Ik heb ingelogd bij wcg, de client gedownload en vervolgens de installatiehandleiding gevolgd waarbij die key ook ingevoerd moest worden. Kennelijk zet wcg dus meteen de correcte key in het commando dat gegevens moest worden! Ik had die key geinterpreteerd als een algemene WCG key
