My "Swan Song" approacheth

My dear friends,

It is not without sadness that I announce that my run in distributed computing will be coming to an end.

I have fought many battles... through the RC-5/64 era, and beyond.

It is not that I have grown weary of my teammates, but that I've grown weary of the battle. I will continue the course of DPAD in some form, but I am no longer interested in being the biggest, the best, or any of that. When I have run my course in DPAD - I will have run my course in DC.

I have much to keep my mind busy - between my business, and astronomy. Should you see my numbers diminish - it is not that my love for you diminishes... just that my commitment to CPU cycles is waning.

I care deeply for each and every one of you. I hope that one day - we will visit, and have wonderful and memorable times in the "coffee shops" of Amsterdam. You've taught me much about teamwork, and about honor and pride... and I thank you all for that. To have been a member of the DPC - is to have been amongst the very best. I have great pride in having been allowed to be amongst you.

This is not the end. This is not the beginning of the end - this ... is the end of the beginning.

Of course, things change over time, and so will DC and the crunchers. People get new/other occupations.
However: Sorry to see you go DanC.

But as we say: you have to look forward, and we wish you all the best. And I guess we'll see a message from you here from time to time.

Better to have had you around and lost you to 'real life', than not to have had you around at all...

Try to keep in touch though, because I wouldn't be surprised if (maybe even a couple of years from now) you might still feel the occasional need to -for instance- join in a stampede. Because distributed computing/DPC tends to get under your skin...

Lurking and beeing around in dnet scene for more than a decade (that sounds cool ^^) and on this forum for almost a decade (lol ), I always had a smile on my face seeing a post of you. A non-dutchie posting on the forum is always special. Good luck in real life and keep posting topics .

I guess everyone in here has there moments of less joy for DC. I know I've had some, but those moments didn't last long. However, it just might happen that one day I stop as well, either because of desinterest or high energy bills, who knows. Point is, I can understand why you want to do this, although it is a sad moment for all of us, I guess.
It has been a nice time, having you around here, and remember: if you ever feel the need to start crunching again, your always welcome to return to the DPC herd.

hmmmm, seeing DanC anouncing his future retirement from DC and DPC, makes one sad.
Anyway it has been an honour and a privilige indeed to be your teammate.
However seeing that for now, only the beginning has ended, I hope that you will continue to be a proud "Dutch" Power Cow member for a loooong time.

Thank you all - once again for your kindness... and understanding.

I've been in this game for many years - and while I'd love to keep growing, build another crack-rack, etc... it's just not in my blood anymore.

I will always have a special place in my heart for the DPC. You're such a great TEAM, and really great people. I WILL visit Amsterdam one day - and we will party together.

Again - I'm not leaving the DPC, nor am I quitting entirely. I'm scaling back, and focusing on some other things that need to take precedence in my life.

I'll be around on occaison, to mess up your boards with posts in English. You'll see my diminishing production - but it'll still be DPC production. I'll be focused more on quality than quantity.

I consider you all brothers. Thank you for allowing me to be amongst you. It is truly an honor.
