Uitrollen MSP file

Hallo,

ik moet eigenlijk over dik 400 werkstations een msp (patch update) uitrollen. Het is een patch voor Outlook. Omdat het een MSP is kan het niet via Group Policy (alleen MSI), in WSUS komt de patch niet voor en ik heb momenteel nog niet de beschikking over SMS.
Ik heb wel een manier gevonden waarop het kan en die ik nu dus ook zal gebruiken maar die is erg omslachtig.
Weet iemand (voor een volgende keer) of er een makkelijke manier is om MSP's uit te rollen zonder SMS?

Windows Installer lets you use Group Policy to distribute software with .msi files. However, many users are unaware of .msp files, which patch .msi files. You can either execute .msp files directly on a local installation or slipstream .msp files to an installation point to automatically apply the patch to new installations. To apply patches to a software installation point, use the following command:

msiexec /a <original .msi file and location> /p <.msp file and location>

This command will update the necessary files and edit the target .msi file to incorporate the patch information. After you execute this command, you need to redeploy the program you're installing so that clients receive the update. To redeploy the software, perform the following steps:

Start the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in (go to Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, and click Active Directory Users and Computers).
Right-click the domain, organizational unit (OU), or object that has the policy that contains the deployed software, and select Properties.

Select the Group Policy Object (GPO) that contains the program you patched and click Edit.

Click Redeploy Application.
Close all windows.

Clients can also trigger the reinstallation by using the following command:

msiexec /i <.msi file and location on share> REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus UPGRADEEITHRECACHE=TRUE /q

Van dat slipstreamen was ik op de hoogte en is al gebeurd maar dan wordt de MSI van de complete administrative install van Office Pro aangepast. Beetje overdreven om voor een kleine update heel Office 2003 Pro op meer dan 400 pc's uit te rollen. Het is namelijk maar een hele kleine update (voor de feestdagen van 2008 en verder) in Outlook.
Bij deze patch wordt er alleen maar een bestandje overschreven (outlook.hol) ben ik achtergekomen, dus wat ik nu heb gedaan is een batch geschreven die het aanwezige bestandje vergelijkt met de nieuwe variant op de server en als er verschil in zit dan wordt de nieuwe versie naar het werkstation gekopieerd.
Nu was het in dit geval dus makkelijk zelf op te lossen maar vind het eigenlijk irritant dat je niet gewoon msp's uit kan rollen. Maar goed, begin volgend jaar gaan we waarschijnlijk sms gebruiken dus dan is het sowieso opgelost..
