Hallo allemaal,

Ik probeer al enkele weken een newsserver aan de praat te krijgen. De situatie is als volgt. Het is niet wenselijk (ivm met dataverkeer) dat iedereen in het pand rechtstreeks toegang heeft tot de newsserver van de profider. Daarom is dit ook middels de firewall geblokkeerd.

Omdat het vanuit vaktechnisch oogpunt toch wenselijk is om bepaalde newsgroepen te te raadplegen, heb ik ervoor gekozen om lokaal een newsserver op te zetten, met een newsfeeder welke uitsluitend bepaalde newsgroups van de isp download en lokaal beschikbaar maakt.

Echter zijn er enkele problemen. Na veel configuren en rechten instellen etc etc kunnen clients verbinden naar de newsserver. Echter op het moment dat deze over NNTP het LIST commando stuurd, krijgen zij geen newsgroepen terug.

Als newsserver maak ik gebruik van INN, en als newsfeeder van newsx. Voor de rest werkt alles in principe goed. Ik kan dus verbinden naar de server. Ik heb een jobje draaien die alle artikelen download van de newsserver van de isp. dus dat gebeurt allemaal. maar bij het verbinden met de client krijg ik dus geen newsgroepen te zien.

Dat er iets mis is zeker. Verder verschijnt er in /etc/inn.conf het volgende:
organization: "A poorly-installed InterNetNews site", maar dit heb ik er nooit in gezet
Ik ben er tot op heden nog niet uit wat het probleem is. iemand enig idee / tips?

Dat is een geintje van de maker.. Je moet deze gewoon aanpassen naar je eigen wensen.

Ik zou INN niet gebruiken, het is een hell om te configgen en er is weinig goede documentatie te vinden.

Verder ben je aan het expiren en feeden tegelijk, dat kan niet, als je machien aan het expiren is word je history file gelocked en kan je feed niet aangevult worden.

Wat ik je persoonlijk aanraad is om diablo te proberen, is veel makkelijker en beter gedocumenteerd:
