Gents/Ladies.

I have a question where the answer could not be found on internet.(google)

If u have on one side let's say Intel Pentium Mobile 2.0 Ghz.
On the another side a Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo T5600 1,83 Ghz.

Which one is faster and better?
Intel claims that Core 2 Duo works faster than a intel Pentium Mobile 2.0 Ghz.
I had both laptops at home, and it seems liked they were equal fast.
The feeling occurd at one moment that the mobile 2.0 Ghz was performing smoother.

Somebody got facts on this subject?

Thanks already.

Panasonic 7J

believe me T5600 is faster.. just google and find out yourself..

Maybe the T5600had no chipset drivers or had XP Home so the 2nd core wasn't enabled

a.k.a. The Sequenz Pounder

I have a Intel Pentium M740 on my desktop PC here. (Using an Asus CT479 converter) and it runs on 2,61 GHz.
On this speed it takes about 26 seconds to calculate 1M Superpi.

A stock E6600 core 2 duo running on 2,4 GHz does the same thing in 20 - 18 Seconds.

So the Core 2 Duo is faster on a single threaded application but next to that its a Dual core processor so it will outrun the Pentium Mobile a little more during normal use, gaming etc.

There are different factors which can decide the performance.
The installed RAM Memory, Graphics card, and how clean your Windows version is.

If you have a lot of spyware it will be slower.
I found this on the internet:
Intel Mobile Pentium processor Centrino T 2.0GHz(Dothan 760/2MB/533MHz)
Core 2 Duo T5600/1.83G FSB667 2M
They both have the same L1/L2 Cache (2MB), but the Core2Duo has a higher FSB (667Mhz)

So the Core2Duo is better, because i think the Core2Duo laptop also has faster memory installed (667Mhz memory).

This is Dutch computerforum and topics should be started in Dutch, so that is the reason why I close it :)

For your particular problem you should compare the performance of the systems in several applications. There are apps like photoshop which would appreciate the dual core cpu.

Do not forget that is not only the cpu which makes a system fast. Take memory and harddrive also in consideration.

For the rest see other replies and please open a topic in Dutch next time :)
