[K3b] Kan dvd's niet sneller branden dan 4x

Hallo allemaal,

K3b wil bij mij dvd's niet sneller branden dan 4x. Ik kan hem wel hoger instellen, maar tijdens het branden blijft de snelheid hangen op 4x. Het ligt niet aan de brander of aan de schijfjes, onder Windows kan ik wel sneller branden. Heb op Google gezocht, en ben daar wel de vraag een aantal keer tegengekomen, maar niet het antwoord. Heb Gnomebaker geprobeerd, maar die geeft niet de werkelijke snelheid weer, maar als ik kijk naar hoe lang het duurt, heeft die hetzelfde probleem. Weet iemand hoe ik dit kan oplossen?

Ik gebruik Ubuntu 7.04 en K3b 1.0

check eens met hdparm of je DMA aanstaat en om welke dvd-driver gaat het. Ook is misschien een output van je dmesg handig :)

Ben er ondertussen achter dat als ik K3b via sudo opstart dat hogere snelheden wel mogelijk zijn, maar nog steeds maar 6x. Dit is bij het branden van een iso. Iemand nog ideeën?

Ja, het moet in principe mogelijk zijn om k3bsetup als root te draaien, en dan de maximale snelheid in te stellen. Vervolgens kun je instellen dat sterfelijke gebruikers ook met deze snelheid kunnen branden. maar het hangt er wel van af of je brander helemaal wordt herkend. Ik weet niet of de buffergrootte er iets mee te maken kan hebben. Man moet je zowiezo verder kunnen helpen.

Heb ondertussen de oplossing gevonden, als ik de readahead op 8 zet, haal ik wel de maximale snelheid van 16x (die ik nooit gebruik).

Probleem opgelost, dus kan slotje op.
