Symptom
Login process hangs on WM95SAST.EXE.
Machines hang when booting after running the login script.
Pressing CTL+ALT+DEL shows WM95SAST.EXE running in the task list.
Win95 workstation with Novell 3.1 client is freezing with reference to WM95SAST.EXE
WM95SAST.EXE is not responding

Fact
The hang is random, meaning it won't occur every time the machine is booted.

Symptom
WM95SAST.EXE module causes an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32 when the Workstation Registration Agent runs.

Fact
The hang seems to occur more frequently if you login quickly after getting the login screen.

Change
Upgraded from the 3.1 SP2 client to the 3.2 client, or 3.21 client.
Upgraded the client from 3.02 to 3.21.

Cause
There may be several causes. These are the causes that have been identified:
1. The hang will occur most often if a Roaming Profiles policy (inside the Win95-98 User Package | Desktop Preferences | Roaming Profiles screen) is enabled.
2. The hang sometimes occurs when a 95 Computer Printer policy is enabled pushing down an HPIII printer. It does not hang when the 95 Computer Printer policy is disabled.
3. The hang may occur when more than one ZENworks policy is run at the same time or during the same schedule.

Fix
Upgrade to the Windows 95/98 3.3 client that can be found on
HTTP://SUPPORT.NOVELL.COM and look for file W9X33E.EXE.
Troubleshooting Notes:

- The task that is running at the time was WM95SAST.EXE. If this task is stopped the boot will continue to completion.
- Sometimes if the user waits, the boot will continue to completion.
