Memorycard corrupted!

Few days ago i bought Splinter cell chaos theory. Nice game but when i try to save my progress i get an error message saying; The memorycard is corrupted, you have to reformat it.
Now i tryed to find an possibility to do that but didn't find one. There seems to be not any way to do that.. How can i solve this problem?

It's an 128Mbyte "Big Ben" card.. Is it possible it will never work good? Do it has to be an original Memory card?
