[XP] Windows sluit af, maar PC blijft draaien

De specs:

• XP Prof.

• AMD 3200+

• Abit KN8-SLI

• 2x Samsung SP2004C

• 2GB Dual-channel RAM

• MSI 7600GT

Symptonen

Nadat ik met het bios geklooid had om een ander systeem te verhelpen, en hem heb ge-upgrade, heb ik het volgende probleem:

1) Als ik Windows afsluit (via het Commandvenster of Startmenu) dan sluit hij windows wél af, maar de PC niet

Alle fans blijven draaien etc.
2) (Ik denk dat dit er iets mee te maken heeft, maar ik weet het niet zeker) Het systeem kan niet uit standby of hibernatestand komen.


Wat heb ik al gedaan ?

Uren gezocht en een hele hoop sites/posts bekeken die iets met mijn problemen te maken hadden.

If an APM tab is not available, then it could be for a number of reasons. Your PC may not support APM (Windows

XP uses APM 1.2), or your computer may be using ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) which is simialr to

APM and is preferrable to APM. If your PC uses ACPI and it does not turn itself off on shutdown, then you may have to

enable ACPI in the computers BIOS. Again, check you BIOS instruction manual on how to do this.

Het eerste gedeelte ging over APM, en dat heb ik niet, dus dat valt al af. Dan zegt hij dat ik ACPI moet enablen in de(/het?) BIOS. Ik zag één optie die over ACPI ging : Of ik hem in S1 wou zetten (Power on Suspend) of S3 (Suspend on Ram). Geen van beide loste mijn probleem op.

Zodra je acpi inschakelt in 2000 zal hij automatisch uitgaan nadat je een shutdown gegeven heeft..

Het heeft er iets mee te maken, maar tjah, dat ACPI weer.

Deze staat al op "1". Voor de rest werd hetzelfde aangeraden (ACPI etc.)

Edit the key PowerOffActive and give it a value of 1

Heb ze beide geprobeerd, registry veranderd, en proberen die .vbs file te runnen. Het probleem bleef echter.

...but the most common one I see on computers like yours is a thing called the “nVidia Driver Helper” service.

Neither I, nor my fellow Geeks, know exactly what it is supposed to do, but it sure can cause shutdown problems. And

turning it off doesn't appear to hurt anything. Here's how to disable it:

Go to Start > Run and type services.msc. Locate the nVidia Driver Helper item and right click it. Select Properties.

Set the startup value of the service to “Manual” or “Disabled”.

Your computer should shut down normally now.

Ik heb even gekeken, en ik had geen "nVidia Driver Helper", maar wel een "Nvidia Display Driver Service", even gezocht of dit zo'n beetje hetzelfde was in een nieuwe naam;

When the Forceware drivers install on your system, they install a new Service called the 'Nvidia Display Driver Service'. In general this service doesn't have any essential functionality. In my experience, most people can safely disable this service and not run into any difficulties or reduced functionality whatsoever. In fact some users note that disabling this service improves Windows startup and shutdown times and general performance, so I suggest you disable this service. To disable it go to Start>Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes). This opens the Windows XP Services utility. Double-click on the 'Nvidia Display Driver Service' and select the Disable option under the 'Startup Type' box, then click OK. Disabled services are removed from memory after the next reboot.

Heb dit geprobeerd, maar helaas, ook zonder deze service bleef mijn probleem voortbestaan.

Ik heb nog veel meer sites bekeken, maar daar ben ik de linkjes van kwijt, dus ik post het topic maar, en zie wel wat

ik al wel en niet heb gedaan. Waarschijnlijk mis ik gewoon iets heel simpel.
(Dit topic staat overigens bij de software sectie, omdat ik vermoed dat het een software-probleem, maar dit weet ik niet zeker)

Wat staat er in je devicemanager onder de computernode?

Heb je je bios al 'ns naar defaults gezet? Niet dat ik twijfel aan je kennis, maar wie weet mis je iets
Geeft windows dan zo'n venster "U kan nu uw computer uitschaklen"? Indien ja, is er gegarandeerd wat mis met je ACPI: kijk dan zoals hierboven gezegd in je apparaatbeheer bij computer of er "ACPI Uni (of multi-) processor PC" staat. Indien "Standard" oid kan je best opnieuw gaan installeren (hoewel in C't ooit beschreven werd hoe je dit moet fixen... maar dat is niet ff verwijderen en terug laten detecteren oid )
Als dat wél in orde is, zou ik het opnieuw bij je bios zoeken, ook al omdat je pc wel stanby gaat/hibernate als ik het goed begrijp, maar niet ontwaakt, hoewel dat ook aan een zwake voeding kan liggen (kleine kans natuurlijk). Een bios update misschien?

Gewoon ACPI Uniprocessor, dus dat zit wel snor, en ik heb al meerdere malen default settings teruggezet, maar ik zie nu de cruciale fout die ik daarbij had gemaakt.

Toen ik RAID aanzette, enablede ik het op alle kanalen (Niet alleen op de nodige). Nu ik RAID alleen op de nodige kanalen heb, sluit ie wel normaal af.
