HP Laserjet 1018 en OSX

Heb via via een mooie laserjet 1018 gekregen, erg blij mee! Heb ik het grote uitpakfestijn gehad, sluit hem aan op mijn macbook coreduo 2.0, 1gig ram en krijg hem met geen mogelijkheid aan de gang. Iemand al eerder zoiets meegemaakt, heb al even een google zoektocht gehouden maar kan nog niets anders vinden dan linux oplossingen en oplossingen waarvoor ik in de terminal moet en daar heb ik geen kaas van gegeten. Iemand suggesties?

Tja de eerste hit in google leid je naar de site van hp.
bij de specs staat helaas geen MacOSX als ondersteund OS.

Idd.. tis een Windows-only printer. Daarom is ie zo goedkoop. Dat geintje heeft HP inderdaad met veel deskjets ook uitgehaald.

Dat hoeft niet helemaal waar te zijn. HP geeft dat idd aan en dat is wat ik eerste instantie ook vond.
Heb even wat verder gezocht op google en het volgende gevonden in deze draad van macosxhints.com.

Van daar ben ik terecht gekomen op http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/ waar het HPIJS
project staat, te weten http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/.
En hoewel de 1018 idd niet bij supported printers van HPIJS staat, staan zijn grotere en kleinere broers en zusters daar wel tussen. Grote kans dat ie werken gaat. En anders probeer je Gimpprint.

Er is iig genoeg om te proberen, weet alleen niet of dat zonder terminal kan, daar mag je zelf achterkomen.

Ik heb het vermoedde dat dat een linux driver is, gezien de aparte sectie voor MacOSX waar ik eerder naar wees. Maar goed de TS kan het altijd proberen en dan terugkoppelen.

Dacht dat ik nerd/tweaker aspiraties had, maar van die osx readme gaan mijn nekharen overeind staan.

REQUIREMENTS

These requirements are listed in order of their dependencies where dependencies
exist. I have also included the version numbers I used at the time I wrote
this. The versions I choose were simply the most current that existed at the
time, in most cases anyway. The only exception is GhostScript because various
information I found said the newer version wasn't as good (something about
color if I recall correctly)

1) Apple Developer Tools (Jaguar) or Xcode (Panther)
Go to http://www.apple.com for more information.

2) gettext-0.13.0 (required by glib)
Go to http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/gettext.html for more info.

3) glib-2.2.3 (required by ghostscript)
Go to http://www.gtk.org for more info. NOTE: You do NOT need the entire
GTK+ toolkit.

4) ghostscript-7.07 (required by foo2zjs)
Go to http://www.ghostscript.com for more info. You can also check out
sourceforge.net. NOTE: You do NOT need EPS Ghostscript in order to use
foo2zjs. You have 2 licenses of GhostScript to choose from: the AFPL
license or the GPL license. I have no idea if there is any difference in
the code, but I choose the GPL version. Also, you may find that there is
a source distribution specifically for the Mac. I couldn't get it to
build, but you're more than welcome to try.

5) ghostscript-font-6.0 (required by you if you want ghostscript to do anything)
Go to http://www.ghostscript.com for more info. You can also check out
sourceforge.net. NOTE: The fonts are distributed as a separate package
and are NOT included with ghostscript itself.)

6) wget-1.9 (required by foo2zjs build process)
Go to http://www.gnu.org/directory/wget.html for more info. This utility
is required by the foo2zjs build process at the time of this writing. It
is also used by another foo2zjs utility (getweb) to download ICM color
profiles.

7) foomatic-filters-3.0.0 (required by foo2zjs)
Go to http://www.linuxprinting.org/foomatic.html for more info. All you
need is the foomatic-filters package.

foo2zjs (required by you)
Go to http://foo2zjs.rkkda.com for more info.


NOTE: By default, most of these packages will be installed under the /usr/local
directories. I've noticed that this is not generally the trend under OS X. You
may choose to add --prefix=/usr when running configure.

IE : sudo ./configure --prefix=/usr

Het is veel wat er gebeuren moet volgens dat lijstje, maar jij bent de enige die het doen kan.
Wat ik mis is het doel van het lijstje qouten en wat je ermee doen gaat.
Maar ook mis ik wat je met de drivers gedaan hebt waar ik naar verwees.

En de installatie instucties die niet simpeler kunnen

Download the appropriate hpijs package from the downloads section above; when the transfer is complete just double-click the downloaded file to mount the installer disk image on your Mac Desktop.
hpijs-foomatic

To begin the installation, double-click the hpijs-1.3.mpkg installer package and authenticate yourself as an administrator of your Mac (typically just enter your username and password). The installation requires 1.7 MB and includes the HPIJS 1.3 plugin to the ghostscript ijs interface, the cups-o-matic CUPS filter, and foomatic PPD files to support 212 printer models including DeskJet, LaserJet, OfficeJet, Photosmart, and more. For a complete list of installed drivers read the file, Supported Printers, included on the disk image.

Please note: The Apple Install utility may display a larger size for installation than is actually required.
