Validation failure windows update

Ik heb sinds kort een geheel legale versie van Windows XP Pro SP2. Ik gebruik IE 7. Validatie gaat goed als ik losse programmas download van de microsoft site. Als ik probeer windows update te gebruiken krijg ik echter foutmelding 0x80080299. Ik heb geprobeerd de WGA plugin opnieuw te installeren, maar dat heeft niet opgelost.

In de knowledge base (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919868) staat het volgende over deze error:

WORKAROUND
Confirm that the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool add-on is enabled.
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. On the Tools menu, click Manage Add-ons.
3. Confirm the Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool add-on is displayed and is enabled.
4. If disabled, select the appropriate add-on and click Enable, then click OK.
5. Go to the Windows Update web site again to ensure that the validation process completes successfully.

Maar Windows genuine Advantage Validation Tool add-on staat helemaal niet in de lijst....
...iemand een idee wat ik nog kan proberen?

Staat de WGA validation tool in je add/remove software lijst...zoja de-installeren en naar de website WhyValidate browsen.
Je kan daar je windows opnieuw valideren,omdat je de tool mist zal die waarschijnlijk de nieuwste versie aanbieden.

En anders 020-5001500 bellen en het probleem voorleggen want IE7 is sinds kort public en dus zouden ze het probleem moeten (onder)kennen.
