Na het installeren van de ATI-driver constateerde ik dat er nog geen hardware accelleratie was. Uiteraard heb ik ook "aticonfig --initial" uitgevoerd. Toen heb ik via YaST geprobeerd de configuratie eens in te zien. Bij het starten van SaX2 krijg ik de melding: "Kan niet alle schermen uitschakelen - Er moet minimaal een scherm actief zijn"

De instellingen stonden wel goed, die heb ik toen opgeslagen en ben opnieuw ingelogd. Toen was de resolutie ineens verlaagd naar 640x480. Ik heb ook nog de xorg.conf ingekeken, maar ik kan niks raars vinden:

Dat zijn de instellingen van het tweede scherm volgens mij. Ik heb al geprobeerd hogere resoluties toe te voegen, maar dat helpt niet.

Weet u zeker dat u de gewijzigde wijzigingen wilt wijzigen?

Ik heb het probleem opgelost.

Gelukkig had meneer aticonfig een backup achtergelaten van het originele xorg.conf bestand. Nadat ik deze terug had gezet had ik weer een fatsoenlijke resolutie, maar zonder ati-driver dus. Bij herinstallatie in text mode bleek dat er een fout optrad met het genereren van de kernel-module, dus de driver was nooit goed geïnstalleerd.

Na het installeren van de kernel-source ging de driverinstallatie wel goed, en deed aticonfig nogmaals zijn werk. Dit keer kreeg ik een mooie desktopomgeving met hardware-acceleratie terug :)

Weet u zeker dat u de gewijzigde wijzigingen wilt wijzigen?
