Menu-item breedte veranderen via CSS

Ik zit met een probleem. Ik ben dit jaar in een bestuur gestapt van een studievereniging. Deze had al een site, opgebouwd door iemand anders, het is gedaan met Mambo. Ik weet hier niet zoveel van. Nu is het probleem het volgende. Het gaat om de volgende site: http://www.communique.utwente.nl . Als je inlogt dan komt er boven in nog een item "forum" bij. Ik wil een item toevoegen, genaamd "bedrijven". Gaat prima als je niet bent ingelogd, dan is het niet te breed bij elkaar. Maar als je inlogt en het item "forum" komt erbij dan wordt het te breed. Met het volgende resultaat:

Ik heb al geprobeerd om het lettertype te verkleinen naar 9, was eerst 10. Dat werkte niet. Ik ben op zoek gegaan naar de cssjes. Ik had er 2 gevonden die erbij horen:

Hierin heb ik lopen zoeken en alles wat met width te maken heeft veranderd naar 75, de meeste waren 83 of 85. Ook dit werkte niet, maar ik zag ook nog de volgende css:

Deze kon ik echter niet vinden op de FTP server. Ik weet me nou verder geen raad. Als je over de menu items gaat, dan zie je rechts van elk menu item een wit balkje. Als ik die cssjes aanpas naar een lagere width dan worden deze witte balken alleen maar breder ipv dat het item smaller wordt. Hier zijn de codes van de CSSjes:

Die code is zo'n bende (sorry, kan er niets anders van maken..) dat ik daar niet in ga zoeken. Maar een meer algemene vraag, is het niet een idee het te vragen aan de persoon die de site op heeft gezet? :) Lijkt me sneller en makkelijker als het zelf (of door 'ons' te laten) uitzoeken.
