[Office2003 SlipStream] Updaten admininstrative installatie

Ik kan dit niet vinden op het net. Ik heb momenteel hier Office 2003 uitgerold via een GPO (software policy) en dat werkt perfect. Voordat de eerste PC geinstalleerd was heb ik een administrative install gedaan naar een share en vervolgens een aantal updates, waaronder SP1, geslipstreamed in deze admin install. Toen heb ik alle PC's dmv een GPO voorzien van Office, wat echt perfect werkt!

Nu wil ik gebruik maken van WSUS, ook voor de updates van Office, maar voor WSUS icm administrative Office installatie heb je of een ongepatchte netwerkinstallatie nodig, of een naar SP2 gepatchte netwerkinstallatie ( zie No Microsoft Office updates are displayed when you use Microsoft Update or Windows Server Update Services ). Nu wil ik dus SP2 slipstreamen in die netwerkinstall, maar wat gebeurt er dan met alle PC's in het netwerk? Gaan die via de bestaande GPO software update policy ook Office updaten? Op zich is dat prima, maar we hebben ook 12 laptops die via VPN verbonden zijn. Als die ook SP2 gaan binnenhengelen, slaat waarschijnlijk die VPN dicht.

Via WSUS kan je mooi voor de laptops een GPO instellen die de snelheid van BITS beperkt (zie ook: [HOWTO] WSUS: Windows Server Update Services ), maar dat kan waarschijnlijk niet voor een software update vanuit een GPO (dat gebruikt geen BITS neem ik aan).

Wie weet dus wat er gebeurt als ik nu SP2 slipstream, wordt dan automagisch op alle PC's SP2 geinstalleerd?

Nou, gisteren lopen zoeken en niet gevonden en nu vindt ik het artikel wel. Maar toch een nuttige voor het forum. Het staat hier duidelijk aangegeven:

Updating client computers

After you update your administrative installation point, you need to perform a recache and reinstallation on all client computers that use the administrative image as a source. Any new client installations from the administrative installation point automatically include the updated version of Office.

To update an existing client installation from an administrative installation point, users need only rerun Setup.exe on the administrative installation point. If the administrative image has been patched, Setup automatically triggers the recache and reinstallation of all Office 2003 applications and features. Unless Setup is set to run in quiet mode, users are prompted to update.

Alternatively, you can distribute the following command line to the clients:

setup.exe REINSTALL=[list of features modified by the update] /qb

In this case, Setup.exe calls Windows Installer to perform the installation and automatically generates log files. You can run this command line by creating a logon script, distributing it as a batch file, deploying it by using SMS, or using other means according to your practice. The options for this command line are described in the following table.
Command-line option Description
Setup.exe Executable file name for Office Setup program.
REINSTALL=[value] Specifies whether to reinstall all applications or only the features affected by the patch. The default REINSTALL=all reinstalls all applications and features in the updated package.
/qb Directs Setup to run in quiet mode.

Dus mijn conclusie lijkt: Als je je administrative install update, gaat dat NIET automagisch door naar de clients, die moet je eerst het commando 'setup.exe REINSTALL=all' geven.

Je kan dit toch middels een GPO oplossen: Software > New package > Advanced > tabje Upgrade > selecteer de oude msi en laat onderaan het venster aanstaan dat het oude pakket gedeinstalleerd moet worden ?

En met 'de oude MSI' bedoel je gewoon de PRO11.MSI file in de administrative install map? DUs je voegt datzelfde pakket opnieuw toe zeg maar.
