Naar DOS booten met een "HIMEM.SYS Disk".

Mijn mp3speler (HD speler) is stuk en nu las ik op een website dat er een mogelijke oplossing bestaat voor het probleem. De HD zal in DOS geladen en geformateerd moeten worden, zie hieronder:

Some people happened to have their player totally unusable when the file transfer got corrupted. It also happened to me and I solved the problem. The indication is that USB doesn't work, charging doesn't work, it just shows the very first logo and freezes.

The player doesn't have the error handling exactly well developed. That's why something like an unsupported long file name or a forcefully terminated file transfer can harm the integrity of the file system. But because the FS is FAT32, as you probably know, it won't be hard to repair it.

The most important item is a special IDE cable that allows you to connect the notebook HDD to the PC.

First, disassemble the player, remove the HDD and connect it to the PC. To read the Xclef disassembly tutorial, just click here

Next you have to boot to DOS with HIMEM.SYS loaded. Don't boot into Windows, as it recreates System Restore and Recycle Bin and that might overwrite the sectors. If you don't know how to make a floppy disk load HIMEM.SYS, let somebody else do this procedure.

Run Scandisk. It will warn you about different OS media descriptor, but don't worry and REPAIR it all.

Next, if the error began to occur after firmware upload, don't forget to delete the partially stored firmware file.

Assemble the player back.

And it will work again!

It even resolved the "sometimes freezing when powering off" bug

Het gaat om het vetgedrukte, ik moet dus een bootdisk maken die HIMEM.SYS laad. Iemand die me hiermee op weg kan helpen? Ik heb de search gebruikt, maar HIMEM.SYS schijnt vooral voor te komen wanneer de PC weigert op te starten.

Slim opgemerkt, ik zie het nu ook pas. Dan zou hij de config.sys moeten aanpassen
