Bestaat dit? [LAN HDD, Raid]

Hallo mensen,

Gezien ik een aantal zeer belangrijke gegevens goed beschikbaar wil hebben in een klein netwerk ben ik opzoek naar een externe netwerkschijf. Tot voorkort had ik altijd een server draaien in de meterkast, echter zijn een aantal taken van deze server niet langer nodig en is het dus geheel overbodig het ding te laten draaien, behalve...

... De gegevens. Ik heb meerdere PC's in het netwerk waar ik dezelfde gegevens wil kunnen benaderen. Nu kun je overal een externe LAN HDD kopen, inprikken, DHCP via de router en klaar is kees. Het grote nadeel hiervan is dat het slechts 1 enkele schijf is, crasht dit ding dan heb je een probleem. Dit was geen punt omdat de server die ik had draaien RAID 1 draaide. Harddisk kapot? Andere schijf heeft alle data nog.

Nu ben ik dus op zoek naar een externe LAN storage oplossing die echt super simpel mag zijn, echter moet het ding voldoen aan 2 dingen:

- 100Mbit / Gigabit netwerk interface (maar dat hebben ze dus allemaal wel)
- Raid 1 ondersteuning (er moeten dus 2 schijven in kunnen).

Verder heb ik geen behoefte aan super-deluxe NAS oplossingen e.d., gewoon simpel maar wel RAID 1. Ik ben al dagen op zoek maar ik kom niets tegen dat voldoet aan mijn punten. Vandaag mijn vraag hier, gezien er tussen alle GoT'ters heus wel iemand zal zitten die van een dergelijk apparaat heeft gehoord? Of zoek ik naar het onmogelijke en kan ik beter gewoon een simpele PC met Windows 2000 o.i.d. in de kast donderen met een RAID 1 array?

ik denk dat dit wel eens kan zijn wat je zoekt. Er staat dat ze mirroring supporten, dus dat zou moeten duiden op raid 1 (of iets dergelijks).

Super, dat is precies wat ik zoek! Het ding ondersteunt inderdaad interne RAID 1 Mirroring. En het ding is nog betaalbaar ook.

toen ik op zoek was naar een betaalbare nas oplossing kwam ik ook netgear tegen. Maar door zijn vele gebreken (eigen filesytem, ntfs via een omweg mogelijk maar dan niet benaderbaar door meerdere pcs) ben ik maar afgehaakt.

ik weet niet hoe het er nu voor staat maar voordat je er een aanschaft zou ik nog even het forum van netgear afspeuren op probleem topics

Ben erg Linksys fan. echter zie ik wel een trend dat ze meer de zakelijke markt willen aanspreken...
Zijn ook iets duurder dan andere leveranciers.
