Maxtor Personal storage 3200 (USB 2.0) niet te formatteren

Heren en dames,

Ik heb vandaag gekocht de Maxtor personal storage 3200 USB maar tijdens het inpluggen kreeg ik de melding dat ik een oude USB versie gebruik en hierdoor trage overdracht krijg. Nou daar zou ik mee kunnen leven alleen zie ik in mijn mappen bij Windows Verkenner heel de externe harde schijf niet terug???

Nu heb ik de site van Maxtor erop nageslagen en die zeiden het volgende :

Answer
Microsoft provides USB 2.0 support for Windows XP and Windows 2000. Microsoft does not provide USB 2.0 support for previous version of Windows.

To install support for USB 2.0 in Windows XP, visit the Windows Update Web site. Install the Microsoft USB Driver driver from the 'Driver Updates' section:

Microsoft Usb Driver Version 5.1.2600.0 Download size: 290 KB (File version numbers are the same for Windows XP and Windows 2000. A visible difference is the Windows 2000 version of this driver is 107 KB in size).

Note: USB2.0 drivers will load automatically if the computer is connected to the Internet with a USB controller already installed. The plug and play software wizard will find the new hardware and automatically install drivers for the USB2 controller. The Microsoft USB 2.0 driver may not be listed if third-party USB 2.0 drivers are installed. First remove all third-party USB 2.0 drivers, then install the Microsoft USB 2.0 driver from the Windows Update site.

Probleem is nu dat ik die service packs niet kan downloaden (jullie begrijpen wel waarom ;-) ) en dus niet de juiste driver kan downloaden. Microsoft Usb Driver Version 5.1.2600.0
Wie o wie kan mij hieraan helpen.

Mijn computer is wel 2.0 compatible.

Als je XP hebt, installeer Windows XP ServicePack 2 en het zou moeten werken

Die kun je evt ook op een andere PC downloaden ()

Probleem is nu dat ik die service packs niet kan downloaden (jullie begrijpen wel waarom ;-) ) en dus niet de juiste driver kan downloaden.

omdat je met een illegale versie draait, dan is dat toch echt jouw probleem.
Dan kunnen wij niet helpen, zie ook Het algemeen beleid #copyright

En ook logisch: XP ondersteunt USB 2.0 alleen vanaf SP2. Dus hoe je het ook wend of keert, nodig heb je dat toch. Hoe je er aan komt is jouw probleem.

De oplossing is om minimaal SP1 te installeren. Dat je een illegale Windows hebt kunnen we weinig aan doen.
