LSI Raid controller: Memory/Battery problems were detected ;

Het gaat om een 320-2E met 512 MB cache, en GEEN BBU.

Nadat ik een keer bij een vasloper de pc gereset heb, terwijl ik aan het testen was met write back caching (ja, niet slim zonder bbu maar ik was aan het testen, ik zet hem normaal op write through)
kreeg ik logischerwijs het volgende bericht bij het opnieuw opstarten:

Memory / Battery problems were detected, the adapter has recovered, but cached data was lost. Press any key to continue.

Ok dacht ik, dat kan kloppen.

Maar nu zegt ie het elke keer bij het opstarten, ook bij een cold boot. Hoort dit bericht te blijven hangen? Of moet je hem uitzetten, en waar dan? Of is mijn dimm toch rot?

Dell zegt hierover:

his message occurs under the following conditions:

* the adapter detects that the cache in the controller cache has not yet been written to the disk subsystem
* the boot block detects an ECC error while performing its cache checking routine during initialization
* the controller then discards the cache rather than sending it to the disk subsystem because the data integrity cannot be guaranteed

To resolve this problem, allow the battery to charge fully. If the problem persists, the battery or adapter DIMM might be faulty. In that case, contact Dell Technical Support.

Dus dan maak ik me toch een beetje zorgen.

Alles staat nu op write through / normal readahead /direct IO, en ik alles werkt wel, windows is gewoon stabiel etc.

Omdat al die lsi biossen ongeveer hetzelfde zijn, iemand ervaring hiermee?

dan laat je je accu toch gewoon reconditionen? Die data hoef je nou niet meer weg t eschrijven, dat heeft nu geen zin meer.

Nja, maarrrrr:

-Ik heb geen accu (geen BBU ^ )
-En bij een koude start zit er dus ook geen data in de cache
