Er is nieuws van het BOINC nieuwsfront.
Dus niets project gerelateerd, maar de algemene BOINC client.
Dus niets project gerelateerd, maar de algemene BOINC client.
The new (5.4+) BOINC client, to be released in a week or so,
supports "account management systems" (AMS).
An AMS is a web site that provides central control of project attachment.
This has two general uses:
1) it makes things easier for first-time users; they can
visit a single web site to learn about and sign up for
multiple BOINC-based projects.
2) it's handy for advanced users with lots of machines;
it lets them attach/detach the machines en masse.
There are a couple of AMS's in the works,
and we'd like to start testing them soon.
AMS functionality includes some server pieces.
e.g. PHP scripts that let the AMS create and edit accounts on a project.
These scripts are in the current CVS trunk.
They have been running on SETI@home for a month or two;
they work fine and introduce no performance or security problems
to the best of my knowledge.
