Hello Kiran,
Thank you for writing to MSN Messenger.
I apologize for the inconvenience caused by the error message, "'ActiveX Objects Missing 2 ", you encountered when playing Checkers in MSN Messenger.
The issue you are experiencing is due to a lot of causes, as such, solutions vary. Per our experience, the most common causes are:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer security setting is set too high.
- The ActiveX controls are disabled.
- “Ask for password when checking Hotmail or .NET Passport sites” is enabled.
- You are using a Network Address Translator (NAT) or router that is not a universal plug and play (UPnP) device.
To resolve the issue, please:
1. Lower your Microsoft Internet Explorer security setting. When Internet Explorer security settings is set to “High”, it will not allow the necessary ActiveX controls to be used.
a. Start Microsoft “Internet Explorer”.
b. Click “Tools”.
c. Click “Internet Options”.
d. Click “Security” tab.
e. Click “Internet” icon.
f. Click “Custom Level”. The “Security Settings” box appears.
g. Go to “Reset to” list.
h. Select “Medium-low” or “Low” from the dropdown list.
i. Click “Reset”. A “Warning!” dialog box appears.
j. Click “Yes”.
k. Click “OK” to close the “Security Settings” box.
l. Click “OK” to end.
2. Enable the ActiveX controls. ActiveX is not a programming language. It is a set of rules that tells software applications, like games, how to share information and operate in Windows operating system. Therefore, when this is disabled, games may not operate properly.
a. Start Microsoft “Internet Explorer”.
b. Click “Tools” menu.
c. Click “Internet Options”.
d. Click “Security” tab.
e. Click “Internet” icon.
f. Click “Custom Level”. The “Security Settings” box appears.
g. Go to the “Settings:” frame.
h. Select “Enable” for each of the 5 options under “ActiveX controls and plug-ins”.
i. Click “OK”. A “Warning!” dialog box appears.
j. Click “Yes”.
k. Click “OK” to close the “Security Settings” box.
l. Click “OK” to end.
3. Disable “Always ask me for my password when checking Hotmail or opening other .NET Passport-enabled Web pages” option. Enabling this option interrupts the invitation to play game in MSN Messenger since it requires password authentication.
a. Start “MSN Messenger”.
b. Click “Tools” menu.
c. Click “Options”.
d. Click “Privacy” tab.
e. Make sure the “Always ask me for my password when checking Hotmail or opening other .NET Passport-enabled Web pages” check box is not checked.
f. Click “OK”.
g. Sign out of and sign in again to MSN Messenger for new settings to take effect.
4. If you are using a router or NAT, please visit the manufacturer's Web site to download the latest firmware update. You may also contact the NAT/router manufacturer for more information regarding their firmware.
5. If you have the latest updates for your router or NAT, turn UPnP on if this option is available. Please contact the NAT/router manufacturer on how to do this.
I've done all they asked me to.. BUT still it don't work..
