(sorry for the english instead of dutch, but i type english like 500x faster than dutch - so reply's in dutch are welcome)

I have an AOpen Aeolus 6800GT - bought second hand but brand new from a friend - never been used before.

I formatted my computer (complete, not quick format) and switched from my old Ti4800se to the new 6800gt. Installed windows where everything seemed to be going fine. I declined every option to install drivers for the video card because i wanted to wait and get the 81.98 from the nvidia site. Got the drivers, installed them no problems and then it asked me to reboot.
Next time the computer boots i get cmos loading screen, windows loading screen, black screen with white cursor, windows startup music, and then the monitor turns off, like there is no output to the screen at all.
So the output is working, but as soon as i install drivers and computer actually uses them the card cuts out.

I have been reading everywhere about this problem, and there is NO soloution. So maybe the smart people at tweakers can help me out :)

I have tried:
- Reseating the Video Card
- Multiple formats and reinstallations of windows
- Replaceing powersupplies (300, 350, 450, 470 and 550w)
- Using different motherboards (A7N8X- Delux and A7N8X-XE, also with latest version flash)
- Multiple Nvidia drivers ranging from 61.66 to 81.98
- Switching mobo from 8xAGP to 4xAGP

none of which made any difference.
Im really hopeing that there is some simple soloution that makes me think quietly to myself *duh*
What am I doing wrong ??

Cheers Guys !!

Did u try to use the card in another pc? And does it boot if you go to savemode? And did u connect the power cable for the card?

If it does boot in savemode but doesnt want to work in windows you should rma the card. If it works in another pc the card should be fine. But I think that the card isnt working

Instead of flashing your mobo you could try to flash your vga...

yea,

it boots in safe mode no problem, and i have tested in another PC, same thing. molex is plugged into the slot on the card also. but i cant rma the card because i have no reciept and i have no idea where it was purchased. could I still take it to AOpen NL and ask really nicely if theyd fix it u think?

flashing vga - where would i even begin to look for something like that?

was hoping for an easier soloution - bah.

thanks anyway

Sommige tft's laten niets zijn als de videokaart hoger dan 60 Hz staan ingesteld.
Hoe staat ie bij jou ingesteld ?

You could try to lower your settings: agp 4x, fast writes: disabled.
If this doesn't work set it back to 8x fw on and try to lower the agp speed to 50MHz (I own the A7N8X and it's possible but with a noticable perfromance hit).
If this doesn't work either (it probably won't) you can only try to switch to a lower driver version.
This is more likely to be the cause as your card works in safe mode where the standard vga driver is loaded.
