[Ubuntu Breezy] 1280x800 gaat niet.

Na installatie van Ubuntu Breezy werkte het systeem prima op 1280x800, dit werd ook automatisch ingesteld na de installatie. Maar omdat ik 3d acceleratie aan wilde hebben heb ik BinaryDriverHowto/ATI van Wiki gevolgd:

1. sudo apt-get install xorg-driver-fglrx
2. echo fglrx | sudo tee -a /etc/modules
3. Edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf and change "ati" to "fglrx"
4. Restart your machine

Helaas start mijn systeem nu in 1024x768, en kan ik bij preferences, screen resolution enkel kiezen tussen 640x480, 800x600 en 1024x768. Ik heb al een beetje in mijn xorg.conf gekeken maar word daar niet veel wijzer van:

3d acceleratie werkt overigens wel prima, maar hoe krijg ik nu 1280x800 als desktop resolutie? Ik heb een Acer Aspire 1661WLM met een Mobile Radeon 9600/9700, 64MB.

Ik heb een Acer Aspire 1524WLMi, welke -als ik me niet vergis- hetzelfde scherm heeft.

Draait prima 1280x800 hier. Misschien heb je er wat aan

als de oplossing van Jotti niet werkt kan je nog altijd de drivers rechtstreeks van de ati site installeren.
Ik had hetzelfde probleem met een 5024WLMi en de ati-installer heeft mij een resolutie van 1280*800+ harware accel. opgeleverd. Op ubuntuforums.org vindt je een sloot howto's om de ati drivers te installeren.

[Technicality]

Je kan ook multires gebruiken, dat heb ik op de asus laptop van een nichtje van mij gedaan, dat draait nog steeds goed (jaar later). Gewoon add to registry doen en dan multires er weer afgooien
