i need an advice, i have a laptop amd64 3800, 1Gb ram and 80Gb hdd(4200) When i load some of my projects (music) the memory is filled completly+ my paiging file goes up to 500mb, shell i put extra 512mb ram or change the hard drive with 7200rpm. I tried to put my paging file to my external firewire 7200 drive, but windows doesn recognize it like a paging partition....

You would benefit way more from more ram.
You could buy a faster hard drive but you would still end up swapping --> result = SLOW/SLUGGISH laptop.
I would fit another 1GB in that laptop since you use about 1,5GB already from what I can gather.
I hope this is helpful.

Dear kitaro,
Gathering of Tweakers is a Dutch-language forum (it amazes how easily some miss that fact...). We are more than willing to help new users - provided they post in Dutch and otherwise stick to policy too (which basically means not reinventing the wheel with every topic: if it can be found in the FAQs and by using the search, or plain common sense, it's not worth a new topic).
Unfortunately this topic start would - even in Dutch - fail to meet those standards as it poses several unrelated questions which can be answered respectively by the PMG FAQ and the WOS FAQ.
Moreover we require a minimum of effort to be put into presentation and readability. Your English is utterly abominable (or abominably sloppy). If it turns out you can speak (or write) Dutch, I sincerely hope you can put more talent into making that decent: correct captialisation, spelling, interpunction - and most important of all, correct technical terminology and abbreviation.
Right now this topic has no right to existence. Exterminate... Exterminate... Exterminate...
