Cisco 801 router boot probleem

Hey,

Ik heb een tijdje terug een cisco 801 router kunnen overnemen.
Het probleem is dat hij niet wil opstarten er gebeurt niks buiten de ledjes die gaan branden enkel het OK ledje brandt niet wat volgens mij al geen goed teken is.
Als ik hem aansluit op mijn pc via de console kabel krijg ik meestal niets te zien in hyperterminal als ik hem opstart, af en toe wordt er een bepaalde letter oneindig herhaald.
Ze zijde mij dat de router nog werkte alleen de ze de configuratie file hebben gewist dus het eerste dat ik dacht wanneer hij niet wou opstarten was dat ze misschien heel de flash gewist hebben.
Dus ben ik maar beginnen zoeken achter een manier om terug een IOS op het flash kaartje te schrijven maar nu blijkt dat dit type van geheugenkaartje nergens in te passen.
Het heeft ongeveer het zelfde formaat als compact flash dus niet het type dat in een pcmcia past
En is het ook niet zo wanneer je de router opstart dat er eerst vanuit de rom wordt geboot en dat ge dit tenminste moet kunne zien in de hyperterminal.
Weet hier iemand hoe ik mijn router terug werkend krijg want hij zou heel handig zijn voor mijn studies.

dat moet je via tftp doen, kan je wel ergens downloaden geloof ik.

maar om dit via tftp te kunne doen moet de router toch eerst opgestart zijn anders kan ik toch geen commando ingeve om het bestand te kopieren.

heb hier ff wat info uit ccna geplakt, maar je moet wel meer zien dan nu hoor ook al is de flash leeg:

In the event that the router does not boot properly, there are several things that could be wrong:

* Configuration file has missing or incorrect boot system statement
* Incorrect configuration register value
* Corrupted flash image
* Hardware failure

When the router boots, it looks in the configuration file for a boot system statement. This boot system statement can force the router to boot from another image instead of the IOS in flash. To identify the boot image source, type the show version command and look for the line that identifies the image boot source.

Use the show running-config command and look for a boot system statement near the top of the configuration. If the boot system statement points to an incorrect IOS image, delete the statement using the “no” version of the command.

An incorrect configuration register setting will prevent the IOS from loading from flash. The value in the configuration register tells the router where to get the IOS. This can be confirmed by using the show version command and looking at the last line for the configuration register. The correct value varies from hardware platform to hardware platform. A part of the documentation of the internetwork should be a printed copy of the show version output. If that documentation is not available, there are resources on the Cisco documentation CD or Cisco website to identify the correct configuration register value. Correct this by changing the configuration register in the configuration and saving this as the start-up configuration.

If there is still a problem, the router may have a corrupted flash image file. If this is the case, an error message should be displayed during boot. That message may take one of several forms. Some examples are:

* open: read error...requested 0x4 bytes, got 0x0
* trouble reading device magic number
* boot: cannot open "flash:"
* boot: cannot determine first file name on device "flash:"ú

If the flash image is corrupt, a new IOS should be uploaded into the router.

If none of the above appears to be the problem, the router could have a hardware failure. If this is the case, the Cisco Technical Assistance (TAC) center should be contacted. Although hardware failures are rare, they do occur.

Note: The value of the configuration register is not displayed by either the show running-config or show startup-config commands.

Die heb ik ook eens doorgenomen voor ik mijn vraag hier stelde

En de print zelf ziet er nog als nieuw uit de router ook trouwens.
Dacht wel dat er meer aan de hand was dan de flash alleen.
Maar ik hoop nog altijd dat hij in orde kan komen

dus: 9600 bps, 8 databits, no parity, 1 stopbit en no flowcontrol!

Ja die gebruik ik altijd.
Heb al met verschillende pc geprobeert maar er gebeurt altijd hetzelde.

Als je de router opnieuw opstart (met console eraan) en je drukt binnen 30 seconden op break of control break, gebeurt er dan iets?

Nee er gebeurt niets.
Als ik een andere router aan mijn console kabel hang krijg ik wel alles te zien dus het licht echt aan mijn router

Als ie al niet eens meer output geeft via het console scherm, zie ik het zwaar in.

Een Cisco Router MOET via de Console verbinding een teken van leven geven als hij in orde is. Als je via de Console verbinding geen tekens van leven ziet dan zijn er drie mogelijkheden:
1: Console kabel defect. Dit moet een standaard (blauwe) Cisco Console kabel zijn;
2: COM poort instelling niet goed op PC. Dit moet 9600,N,8,1 zijn;
3: CON poort op Router defect of Router zelf defect. Dit kun je alleen verhelpen door hem te laten repareren . . . of te vervangen . . .

de console snelheid zou inderdaad standaar 9600bps moeten zijn, maar dit kan ook hoger of lager ingesteld worden.

Probeer ook eens wat andere snelheden zou ik zeggen.
