Back in 2001, at QuakeCon no less, we were all excited to hear the first words about Quake 4. Not only was the fact that there would indeed be a fourth Quake a surprise, but it being developed outside of id Software was another jaw dropper for the gamers around the world. The game would be developed by Raven Software, a long-time user of Quake engines for their long list of hot titles. The already solid relationship between id and Raven would be harvested for this game and under the guidance of id, Raven dove into making what we all hope is the most unforgettable FPS gaming experience ever. After all, it's Quake!
Quake 4 would bring us back into battle with the now hated Strogg race originally introduced in Quake 2, and in fact, the new game picks up right where the original left off. If you think we finished those metal maniacs off back in the day... Guess again.

That's how it is in Prey, the upcoming shooter from Human Head Studios and 3D Realms. While other first-person shooters generally focus on you running through corridors from a first-person view and blasting everything that isn't you, Prey will instead attempt to turn the typical shooter upside down, literally.
Over the course of the game, you'll be captured by aliens and travel to outer space, where you'll find yourself in low- and zero-gravity areas. Curiosity also gets the better of some people, so they sneak into the 30-kilometer area to do some good old-fashioned investigating. These people are called Stalkers, and they report back to the authorities with their findings. Unreal Tournament 2007 promises a return to the "feel" of the original Unreal Tournament. While UT2004's double-jumping and dodge-jumping will remain, Epic aim to make the game more fast-paced and less "floaty". Epic stresses that the aim with UT2007 is to create a whole new - and better - game, rather than merely a prettier UT2004.
The gametypes present in the new title reflect the blend of old and new. UT2004's Onslaught makes a triumphant return, along with the classic Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and CTF modes.
Epic is also introducing a brand-new gametpye called Unreal Warfare, which appears to be verging into MMO territory. This time it's also likely that vehicles will appear in standard CTF gameplay, rather than being included in a seperate Vehicle CTF gametype a la UT2004.
While details of this new gametype are still sketchy, Unreal Warfare maps are set to be potentially as large as three Onslaught maps, with 'Assault'-like sub-objectives and even a limited form of resource management. Players will join one of the eight teams, each with its own unique armour, and wage war across huge territories which change depending on which team is in control.
With Unreal Warfare, it's clear that Epic intends to offer something for the more tactical gamer, with the Warfare mode focussing more on strategy, resource management and teamwork.
