[XP] Windows Installer 3.1 (V2) geeft "acces denied"

Situatie
Na een akelige crash gisteren heb ik mijn Windows XP (SP2) weer kunnen repareren via mijn cd. Nu wil ik de updates automatisch laten installeren en krijg ik als eerste voorgeschoteld de "Windows Installer 3.1 (V2)". Deze wil ik graag installeren ivm. volgende updates. Echter krijg ik tijdens de installatie van microsoft update de melding dat de installatie faalt. Ook de losse file geeft problemen maar komt wel met een IETS duidelijkere melding: "Acces Denied". Enige wat ik kan doen is op OK klikken en dan wordt de installatie terug gedraaid en me systeem gereboot. Ik krijg dit op geen enkele manier geïnstalleerd.

Wat heb ik geprobeerd?
Na wat rondneuzen heb ik de volgende dingen geprobeerd, zonder resultaat.

• De rechten van de systeemfolder gewijzigd (in full acces)
• Emulatie software verwijderd (deamon etc.)
• Antivirus software verwijderd (nod32)
• Andere 3rd party tools uitgezet
• Register gerepareerd via de regtool van microsoft
• Systeembestanden gecontroleerd via de SFC tool (sfc /scannow)
• In veilige modus de update uitgevoerd

Ik zie fouten staan, maar ik kan deze niet relateren aan enige oplossingen..

Wat kan ik nog doen?
Ik heb eigenlijk geen behoefte aan een nieuwe installatie dus ik vraag me af hoe ik dit probleem kan oplossen?

ik had vanochtend precies hetzelfde probleem.
Bleek dat ik te weinig rechten had... heb ingelogd onder het local admin account van de pc en toen kon ik de desbetreffende installatie wel starten ..

Dit is een integrated SP2 cd.

EDIT
Ik heb een aantal nieuwe dingen geprobeerd.

• Het herinstalleren van SP2 geeft dezelfde acces denied error
• Aanmaken van andere gebruikers en daarmee SP2 of die update te installeren geven dezelfde fout

Ik heb er een aantal geprobeerd maar me pc begon toen helemaal raar te doen Ik had het grootste vermoeden dat me register op een of andere manier corrupt was. Ik heb toch maar een format uitgevoerd en dat is goed gelukt! Na het terugzetten van me instellingen en mail backups werkt me pc weer naar behoren en sneller
