IDE Controller toevoegen aan PC met RAID controller?

Beste vrienden,

Ik heb vier harde schijven (4 x WD 120 GB) hangen in RAID op een SIL Controller. Verder heb ik op de IDE van de moederbord twee andere harde schijven (WD 160 & 320 GB) hangen.

Ik probeer al een week lang twee harde schijven (2 x WD 120 GB) aan een Promise Ultra 133 TX2 Controller te hangen. Helaas zonder succes! Is dit sowieso wel realiseerbaar?

Wie zou a.u.b. zo vriendelijk willen zijn ondergetekende een helpende hand te bieden. Bij voorbaat mijn hartelijk dank hiervoor!

Mja, het wordt toch erg moeilijk om er iets over te zeggen, zonder extra informatie wat je gedaan hebt, wat je daarbij geconstateerd hebt, etc.

Bijvoorbeeld:
Controller: Wordt de controller zelf herkend, heb je er actuele drivers voor geïnstalleerd, zijn er firmware revisies voor, heb je een ander PCI slot geprobeerd, heb je al gekeken welke IRQ's bezet zijn en hoeveel IRQ's die controller wil hebben, welke die nu pakt en of dat een zelfde is als een andere IDE-controller.
Werkt b.v. een CD-speler wel op die controller?

Mobo: Zijn er BIOS updates, heb je al handmatig geporbeerd een IRQ te forceren op de controller vanuit BIOS, heb je al een factory default gedaan, laatste chipset-drivers (+andere componenten). (Misschien veroorzaakt één van je bestaande controllers wel een conflict wat in nieuwere drivers opgelost is).

Harddisk: Welk type precies? Zijn er problemen bekend op b.v. site fabrikant HDD/controller over deze combinatie?

We missen inderdaad aardig wat info in je startpost: de exacte specificaties van het opslagsysteem, de duidelijke omschrijving van het probleem én wat je allemaal wel niet hebt uitgezocht, uitgevonden, uitgeprobeerd en uitgesloten met betrekking tot het probleem.

Allereerst hartelijk bedankt voor de snelle reactie en verstandige vragen en adviezen.

Alles wat upgedate kan worden is up to date. PCI-slot en jumpers wisselen is meerdemale gebeurd.

De Promise Controller wordt herkend zowel tijdens het opstarten als in de devicemanager in Windows.

Probleem:
In Everest Ultimate Edition 2005 in het onderdeel Opslag / Fysieke harde schijven is de harde schijf die ik aan de Promise Controller heb gehangen wel te zien. Maar in de normale verkenner is de extra harde schijf niet zichtbaar.

Tijdens het booten begint het systeem eerst de SIL RAID Controller te herkennen en daarna de Promise Controller. Vervolgens start ie gewoon op. Tussen door krijg ik een foutmelding. MBR Error 3. Maar ik kom uiteindelijk wel gewoon in mijn bestaande Windows. Maar de extra harde schijf is niet zichtbaar.

Ik zou je zeer erkentelijk zijn als je me uit de brand helpt. Alvast bedankt!

En wat zegt het schijfbeheer van windows? Daar kun je immers je schijven partitioneren enz.

Ondersteunt de kaart toegang tot BIOS settings door tijdens detectie-kaart (vlak na opstarten computer) op b.v. een F-toets te drukken?

Misschien dat er daar zaken geconfigureerd kunnen worden, of moet je daar sowieso nog wat instellen wil het werken.

ps; in schijfbeheer in windows zie je ook niks neem ik aan? Een disk zie je nl niet in je verkenner als deze nog niet gepartitioneerd is.
