[2003/XP] XP clients starten traag op

Probleem:

Veel problemen met clients die veel tijd nodig hebben om op te starten.

Omschrijving probleem:
Wanneer een client opstart krijgt hij eerst een venster te zien "Netwerkverbindingen worden voorbereid" wat ongeveer 5 seconden duurt. Daarna krijgen we het venster "Computerinstellingen worden toegepast" te zien wat soms minuten kan duren.

Systeemeigenschappen:

CPU > Intel Pentium 4 1.7 GHz
Moederbord > Intel D845PT / D845EPT2
Geheugen > DDR 2700 (256 MB)
NIC > Intel PRO 10/100 VE Network Connection (integrated)
OS > Windows XP + SP1 en ook clients met SP2

Domeineigenschappen:

Vaste IP adressen
Geen DHCP Server
Windows 2003 domeincontroller + SP1
DNS van clients wijst naar domeincontroller


Voorgaande handelingen:

Het gaat over 25 computers, allen dezelfde hardware (zie hierboven). 1 computer werd volledig geconfigureerd. Daarna hebben we de computer toegevoegd aan het domein. ISA Firewall Client geïnstalleerd. Daarna terug uit het domein gehaald en met Ghost 2003 gekopieerd naar de andere 24 computers. Na het clonen werd netjes Ghostwalk gedraait om het SID te veranderen.

In de default domain policy stond ingeschakeld: "Altijd wachten op het netwerk bij het opstarten van de computer"

Dit hebben we reeds uitgeschakeld maar het probleem blijft. Wanneer we echter een client PC nemen, deze vervolgens formatteren alle programma's weer installeren toevoegen aan het domein krijgen we dit niet. Geen venster met "netwerkverbindingen worden voorbereid" ook geen venster met "Computerinstellingen worden toegepast" maar direct het inlogscherm. Wanneer we na het inloggen rsop.msc uitvoeren is alles netjes toegepast.

In de logboeken tref ik niet meteen informatie aan die me verder kan helpen.

Iemand enig idee hoe ik dat opstartproces kan analyseren of mij in de juiste richting helpen zoeken.
Ik blijf ondertussen verder googlen.

Kan het zijn dat er enorme computer of user profielen moeten worden heen en weer gekopieerd tijdens het opstarten/inloggen? Monitor vanaf een andere PC eens je netwerkverkeer in deze situatie. En help eens: komen de meldingen die je noemt (en zo lang op zich laten wachten) tijdens het starten of na het inlogscherm?
Monitor tevens eens het CPU-gebruik op de server tijdens zo'n aanmelding, wellicht zit daar een onvermoede bottleneck.

De clients maken gebruik van lokale profielen.

Maw. Het profiel van een lokale account wordt volledig geprepareerd en vervolgens gekopieerd naar de map "Default user"
Wanneer een gebruiker dan inlogd wordt er een kopie genomen van die map "Default user".
Die proberen we zo klein mogelijk te houden (+/- 3 MB)

En help eens: komen de meldingen die je noemt (en zo lang op zich laten wachten) tijdens het starten of na het inlogscherm?

Die meldingen komen altijd voor het inlogscherm (druk op ctrl + alt + del)

Monitor tevens eens het CPU-gebruik op de server tijdens zo'n aanmelding, wellicht zit daar een onvermoede bottleneck.

Dat zal ik inderdaad even nakijken.

momenteel ben ik bezig met "enable verbose logging " van userenv in te stellen van een client zonder problemen en een client met problemen. Hierdoor hoop ik wat meer informatie te vinden in de logfiles en eventueel te vergelijken.

Ik zal erop letten. Wat betreft de DNS staat deze zeker goed ingesteld die verwijst naar zichzelf en forwarders naar buiten toe (DNS provider).

Als ik de userenv log erop na sla kom ik volgende vreemde dingen tegen:

merk op dat er vanaf 21:14:57 opeens een vertraging is van 10 seconden tot 21:15:07 en dan het grote tijdsverschil van 3 minuten tot 21:18:06


Verder merk ik ook nog enkele meldingen met Extension XXXXXX skipped with flags XXXX

een dergelijke vertraging lijkt op een timeout "ergens van" te duiden.

Heb je al een netwerk dump gemaakt? Wordt er goed geresolved? Zie je wellicht netbios broadcasts langskomen voor een host die niet (meer) bestaat en/of niet resolvable dan wel niet bereikbaar is?
