Feather linux starten van usb stick

hey,
pas heb ik een nieuwe memorystick gekocht. Hier wilde ik graag linux op zetten zodat ik dat overal (waar ondersteuning is voor usb boot) mn linux kan booten.
Ik heb dit geprobeerd met deze tuto. Ik weet helaas niet meer waar ik hem vandaan heb want ik had m lang geleden in een docje gezet.

1. Download and install "Windows-based Format Utility for HP DiskOnKey USB Device" from HP's support site. (thanks to Alexit from the Feather forums for sharing this link)

2. Download the FreeDOS kernel, you can get it from sourceforge here. Unzip it into DOSFolder on your computer's hard drive.

3. Move everything you value off of your USB flash drive, then format your USB flash drive using the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (look for the icon on your desktop), selecting the option to Create a DOS startup disk fill in the location of the DOSFolder\BIN folder you created in the previous step.

4. Download a USB ready distro, I've used the Feather Linux USB distro with some success - you can get it here (you want feather-x.x.x-usb.zip). Unzip it's contents into a folder called LinuxPrep on your computer's hard drive.

5. Download loadlin from here and unzip it into the LinuxPrep directory.

6. Move everything in the LinuxPrep directory accept the KNOPPIX subdirectory into KNOPPIX subdirectory. (this step is to reduce clutter, good if you plan to store things other than Linux on your USB flash drive)

7. Create a text file called autoexec.bat in the LinuxPrep directory, put the following text in it:

cd KNOPPIX
Loadlin linux24 initrd=minirt24.gz lang=us myconfig=scan
REM lang=us doesn't appear to set the keymapping on Feather to US, any ideas?


8. Copy or move the contents of the LinuxPrep directory onto your USB flash drive.

9. Restart your computer, making sure your BIOS is set to boot off of USB before booting off of the hard drive - when the system starts you should see some FreeDOS stuff followed by Loading Linux... a few seconds later you should be off and running with Linux

Na deze tuto te hebben opgevolgd en mn stick in de pc te hebben geplugd komt ie idd met iets over dat freedos --> loading freedos fat_. Hier blijft ie echter hangen. Heeft iemand enig idee wat er fout zou kunnen gaan?

EDIT: mss is het nog nuttig om te weten dat ik een Corsair Flash Voyager 512mb gebruik.

ik heb het nu geprobeerd met de tuto die hier staat.
maar daarbij geeft hij eerst netjes booting linux bla. en na een klein poosje zegt ie; boot failed
