Vreemd poort / verbindingsprobleem

Hi,

Lately I've been having an unusual problem, that occured after my ISP (Euphony ADSL) got a network upgrade.

I can no longer play online games in a stable fashion; after a short while (ranging from 10 seconds to 1 hour) the connection to the game server times out, even though my other internet applications (IRC, MSN or downloads) have no problem whatsoever continueing their bussiness.

I have heared about people forwarding ports on their router for CS; but I never semt to need it. Now I'm wondering maybe I do - this unstable condition is enduring for 2 weeks now. I am routed by a SMC7204BRA barricade router, and it hadn't given me any problems for an entire year. I checked all manuals i found but couldn't find any reference to the problem I'm experiencing.

My ISP claims their network upgrade is complete and any instability should not be caused by them. But then again, my ISP tends to flower things up.

I play Counter-Strike on a competitive level and this unstable condition is basicly keeping me 100% inactive. I'm fairly desperate so I'd be more than happy with any help any of you could offer.

port forwarding should not make a differerence in stability.

You can try to reconfigure your router. Set your NAT incoming 27015 to outgoing 27015 and vice versa.

There are many English Counter-Strike boards, you should rather use those boards. The communication between the members overthere and you will be much easier I guess.

- try with disabled windows firewall protection.
- open ports in the range 2500 to 2600 in your router config

Some other ports to try:
- 6003
- 7001
- 7002
- 27010
- 27011
- 27012
- 27025
- 27040

(Some of these ports are for dedicated server purposes, but you never know what'll help you )

Might be a full NAT table. Make sure no program is using the internet connection, check P2P programs, spyware and ad-ware specially; and check whether you've got the same problem. You might even try with a notebook (lent one if you ain't got one) as the only pc connected to your modem / router and again check if you get the same problem.
