Gentlemen...

I have committed an "unpardonable" sin. I have praised the DPC.

I am prepared to take the consequences of my actions. And I'm sure they will be severe.
Just wanted you all to know, how much I admire you. :)

.... and for your convenience. DSMarty? Care to translate for me?

Here is my post:

________________________________________________

This will not be a "popular" post.

We like to kick about the DPC a bit, and with good reason. We've had a number of "scraps."

But... what is the one overriding truth that will permeate this analysis?

We get our arses handed to us... every dasm time.

Am I a DPC lover? Yes and no.

I am a TEAM lover... and the DPC do it better than anyone I've ever seen in my professional career, bar none.

Sorry folks. I am Die-hard Anandtech.... and I always will be. But in a discussion of TEAMS... the DPC are the epitome of the word.

Am I just some jerk flaunting my love for another team? Nope. I'm a rather "decorated" professional in the business of "teams" in the Deming sense... and I'm calling our lazy-a$$ American butts on the carpet for being soundly trounced by a vastly smaller, and wildly successful lot of guys that understand the meaning of the word "TEAM."

That said...

I'm NOT denigrating the efforts of the many stalwart, and hugely successful Anandtech members. That's not at ALL my point. Mine is this: As a student of the word "TEAM" (in the Deming sense) the Dutch have grasped the concept, and have kicked our ever-loving-butts with it)

Just like the Japanese have done in the industrial sense.

It's only some food for thought.

These gentlemen stepped up to the plate when it counted. They gave their money, their support, and their best wishes to our most "sacred" cow... David McOwen.

They will ALWAYS be a cut above.

My purpose is not to lower TeAm Anandtech, nor is it to raise the DPC above where they should rightfully be. My purpose is to cause my teammates to STOP and THINK a little bit about how different THEY are from us.... and why.

No "Uber und Unter"... just some food for thought.

Always and forever AnandTech.

DanC

DanC, you know how DPC became what it is today ?
We grew exponentially when we were in a struggle to became #1 in RC5-64 with Anandtech!
David vs Goliath, The Netherlands (16M people) vs the USA (300+M people), DPC vs TA.

As "David" we felt that with a lot of motivation and by asking all your friends we could defeat the almighty Team Anandtech.
When we became big and we kinda took over TA's #1 position motivation has declined and even within DPC the teamspirit is not what it used to be.
Even the addition of numerous other projects did not bring back the motivation we used to have, that's the fight we now have... with ourselves!

Great post, respect :)

This is true, and I think it's mostly caused by the fact that DPC is #1 on a lot of projects.

"When a king wins every war, why would he need more soldiers?"

The fighting spirit has dropped because there is not much left to fight for, we only need to keep our #1 spots.

In my opinion projects where DPC is not yet #1, like Folding@Home, have the opportunity to get DPC off their asses and back into action.

Respect to DanC, it takes courage to state the fact that someone else is better at something, few can admit this. _/-\o_

And the cow said: Helloooooow?

DanC you should be commended and respected by all. Not only by the DPC members and active followers of `our` history (TA / DPC) but by the TA members as well.

cudo's to you! and maybe your post will be something to be proud of by bringing some fighting spirit back into the game!

Gekkie is a proud member of TheBenny!

It's always nice to hear flattering words from respected teammembers of very respected teams. Together with Ars Technica, Team Anandtech fills the podiumspots regarding the best DC-teams in my opinion. Too bad there are only 3 spots on a podium, because Free-DC is a good runner-up as well.

I hope that one day we can enjoy a good oldschool style battle with TA again! That time back in RC5-64 was the time I got caught by the DC-virus as well. Those were the days!

I appreciate your understanding of the spirit in which my tribute was intended.

I admire your single-minded drive to be #1. It's a thing of beauty. :)

Sorry to keep messing up your boards with my trivial posts, but I do enjoy my Dutch friends.
A BIG hello to all, and one day, I will visit your wonderful country.

We'll stop in at the "coffee houses" eh? ;)
