Gamecube Modding

I'm a huge gamecube fan and I was wondering something about this item on eBay:

Can I play imports with this (japanese games) or is this still to early ? I knew about mods for playstation and xbox but didn't know there was actually a GC version made .. but before I give out that much money I want to make sure it actually works! Anyone have experience with this chip ?

First: Welcome 2 GoT.
Im sorry, but by the policy of GoT we are not allowed to open any topic's about mod's on protected media like Xbox PS/2 and the Gamecube. Its falls under the statement "Hacking" what's illegal.

So i think you have to search again.

You sure it's illigal ? My friend told me it isn't because it doesn't circumvent security measures nor includes a bios ... so that selling or buying it isn't illigal... I do understand that screwing open your gamecube IS illigal...

So as I see it it's borderline business... but I understand if it's not a subject that is talked upon and I will try google as suggested, tnx!

Outside the fact that we're a dutch forum, and expect dutch posts ( There are only very few exceptions made for english topics.. ) We do simply not allow 'mod-chips'. You add stuff to the gamecube that is not meant for it to be. Nintendo does not support it, and you essentially would replace something inside the gamecube with the new chip, so you essentially DO circumvent security measures.

We simply do not allow these kind of topics on this website.
