programma starten bij het booten

ik ben op zoek naar een mogelijkheid om het programma dp500serv (pc-link host kiss dp-500) bij het opstarten van mijn pc te laden, dit programma wordt normaal gezien geladen door /usr/local/bin/dp500serv in te typen.
aangezien ik ubuntu linux gebruik heb ik reeds een shell script gemaakt dat bij het booten geladen wordt (/etc/rc.boot/dp500serv), dit werkt, maar linux blijft "hangen" als het programma start en doet voort met booten tot ik op ctrl-c druk...
weet iemand hoe je dit programma start bij het booten zonder problemen?

Gebruik "&" in het script?

kijk of dat programma een "--daemon" of "to background" optie heeft
en anders in je shell script achteraan een "&" toevoegen

Bij ubuntu (en andere Debian gebaseerde distro's) moet je voor dit soort dingen het commando start-stop-daemon gebruiken. Dit wordt gebruikt door de scripts in /etc/init.d/ Een voorbeeldscript is /etc/init.d/skeleton. Manual pages lezen en dan aanpassen voor eigen gebruik.

helaas is voor dit programma geen deamon-mode beschikbaar
het "&" karakter toevoegen aan het script werkt wel, thx guys

ik ben voor de moment nog de magische linux-wereld aan het ontdekken, maar ga mij nog niet meteen wagen aan het maken van een start-stop deamon... komt wel, maar alles op zijnen tijd
