1) Log in as root.
2) Install gcc. niet nodig, heb je waarschijnlijk nl. al
3) Somehow get the latest ndiswrapper release on your system from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ndiswrapper/ (ndiswrapper-0.8.tar.gz as of this post). The tar should fit on a floppy.
4) Extract ndiswrapper whereever you like.
5) Enter the directory where you extracted ndiswrapper in a terminal window.
6) Type 'make install'
7) Somehow get the latest rtl8180 Windows XP drivers from
http://www.realtek.com.tw...s1-3.aspx?Keyword=rtl8180 onto your system. You need the rtl8180.sys and net8180.inf files. Put these two files in any directory you want.

In your terminal, type 'ndiswrapper -i /path/to/net8180.inf'
9) Type 'ndiswrapper -l' and make sure net8180 is present.
10) Type 'modprobe ndiswrapper'
11) Type 'iwconfig' and make sure there is a wireless device present, usually it will be recognized at 'wlan0'
12) Type 'ifconfig wlan0 up'
13) Type 'ndiswrapper -m'
14) Type '/usr/bin/internet-druid' to open your Internet Configuration Wizard. Or if you use Gnome, it should be in the System Tools menu.
15) Chose 'Wireless Connection' from the list, then click 'Forward'
16) Select 'ndiswrapper (wlanX)' from the list, then click 'Forward'
17) Fill in the proper settings. Usually the mode will be 'Managed'. Hit the 'Forward' button.
18) Then there is another page of settings, make sure they are correct, and finish the wizard.
19) Upon completion of the wizard, the 'Network Configuration' window should pop up. At least it did for me. If it doesn't, you can type '/usr/bin/system-control-network' to open it, or you can open the 'Network Device Control' via the System Tools menu in gnome. Activate your wireless network card. It'll probably be 'Inactive'. Then if it prompts you to save your settings. Click 'Yes'.
20) Now go back to your terminal window, and type 'ping -c 2 google.com'. If all is well, you should be able to ping google.com with no problems.
