Yesterday my hosting company took my website down because it sent 400000 queries per hour to the MySQL database!! It also opened 50000 MySQL connections per hour!! My hosting company tells me that ALL their customers together cause 125000 queries per hour on average ON ALL SERVERS! You might think that I have quite a popular website then... uhh no.
I run a e107 website for my friends (14 users). I have done no custom scripting (at least none that uses the MySQL database), so I have ab-so-lu-te-ly NO idea what causes this problem. My hosting company tells me to fix the problem before they can put my website back online again, but I have no idea where to begin.
What to do? Here's a list of the plugins/menu's that where active on my site:
Time/date
Main menu
Login menu inc. private messenging
Chatbox
Who's online
Counter
News articles
Search
Calendar
RSS feed from other site (can't remember how they call that in e107)
Latest comments list
Theme selector
Audioscrobbler plugin
Backend
Shoutcast plugin (inactive, so that can't be it either)
As you can see, these are all standard plugins, that come with e107. The only active 3rd party plugin is the Audioscrobbler plugin. This shows my 10 most recently played songs, which are fetched from my audioscrobller.com rss file (so no MySQL access in this one either).
Conclusion: All MySQL access is done by standard e107 stuff. What could be wrong? And how can I fix this?
