[USB] oud moederbord wil onboard USB niet

ik zit hier nu bij iemand anders, met een viking moederbord.

nu krijg ik USB niet aan de praat. Ik heb via drivers geinstalleerd, en als ik dan in het apparaatbeheer kijk zie ik onder usb het volgende staan:
'Niet-ondersteunde VIA USB Universal host controller'

usb staat logischerwijs in de bios wel aan, maar ik mis waarschijnlijk gewoon een driver. Nu kan ik op internet nergens een losse driver vinden van die fabrikant, en vroeg me af of er nog andere mogelijkheden zijn om usb aan de praat te krijgen.

edit:
het gaat dus om een windows2000 systeem SP4
nieuwste via drivers (en oudere ook al geprobeerd)

Om welk OS gaat het?

USB = I/O controller, dat wordt dus een move Processors, Mobo's & Geheugen > Opslagmedia & I/O Controllers.

Hele oude revisies van sommige VIA chipsets voldoen niet helemaal aan de USB standaarden, zie ook dit KB artikel :

CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Windows 2000 detects a Via chip set and loads the Intel/Via driver (Uhcd.sys) with an older version of the Via chip set. Via chip sets earlier than REV_05 are not supported in Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION
Via has updated the newer chip set revisions, which are supported in Windows 2000. If your Via chip set is earlier than REV_05, consult the motherboard manufacturer's Web site for updated drivers or additional information. As an alternative, add a PCI add-in Universal Serial Bus (USB) adapter rather than using the built-in Via chip set-based controller to attach USB devices. You should disable the built-in controller in the computer's BIOS and Device Manager.

dat zal dan idd wel het geval zijn.. het probleem is dat ik sowieso op die website van viking (www.vikingcomponents.com) geen moederborden kan vinden, laat staat specifieke drivers voor een bepaald onderdeel van een bepaald type moederbord...

Miscchien moet je ff proberen na de install van de drivers, even ndaar de apperaten beheer gaan en dan automatisch zoeken naar stuur programma's onder de overige aparaten...

hier installeerd het de USB ook pas naar dat ik dat gedaan heb..
maar ik heb wel Nforce bord.

Through feedback in the forums and hundreds of emails over the years, we know that technical support hot lines for many peripheral (as in printer/scanner/camera etc) manufacturers, tell their customers to "update the drivers" or "update the controller". The VIA USB host controller, rev 5 or later refers to the version of the USB controller featured on your motherboard. The controller cannot be updated without updating your motherboard to a motherboard that has a later revision controller. The driver for VIA USB controllers are built into Microsoft operating systems which support USB. It is known as VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB controller. This is inbuilt and cannot be updated. The advice you received to update the driver or controller, probably means that they recommend that you update the VIA Hyperion 4in1 drivers. Or the advice might mean that they recommend you to install the USB filter patch below. If you have been advised that you need revision 5 or later, but you have a revision older than 5, it may well be that the peripheral USB device you want to install is too new for your motherboard and therefore not compatible. If you suspect that might be the case, please ask for clarification from the manufacturer of the peripheral device.

Ze komen wel met goede oplossingen, werkt 't niet vervang dan het hele mb maar Is een los pci->usb kaartje geen oplossing trouwens ?
