Ik ben al de halve dag op zoek naar een manier om mijn widescreen laptop keurig op 1280x800 aan het draaien te krijgen. Als ik de standaard driver gebruik (nv, voor mijn nvidia ding), gaat ie wel naar 1280x800, maar dat ziet er niet uit. Dus ik heb vanuit ports de nvidia-driver voor X11 geinstalleerd. Ik de driver naar nvidia gezet, opstarten; wel gewoon goed beeld, maar geen 1280x800, want hij had zelf bedacht dat 1024x768 ook wel ging werken blijkbaar. Met geen mogelijkheid is dit goed te zetten. Ik krijg er inmiddels een enorme bende koppijn van.

Misschien helpt het ook om de Nvidia Linux drivers te installeren... :)

Echter ik heb bij een collega een soort gelijk iets gedaan op een HP laptop... met succes... :)

Is over nagedacht ;) Die zijn geinstalleerd (via ports, doet ie linux base etc. meteen meeinstalleren.) Ik was net aardig op weg, links en rechts van mijn 1024x768 kwamen dikke zwarte balken. (Na het aanpassen van de HSync en VSync). Hij blijft echter moeilijk doen en hij wil nooit naar 1280x800 gaan. Beetje jammer!

Je gebruikt een tft, drop die hsync en vsync, die zoekt xorg zelf wel uit. Gooi ook de modelines weg en stel gewoon een resolutie van 1280x800 in.

Mja dat werkte ook niet helemaal ;) Ik als volslagen newbie op xorg gebied had dat natuurlijk als eerste geprobeert, zonder resultaat helaas. Maargoed, de oplossing lag dus op een duitse debian mailinglist. *klik*
De refreshrate van 60MHz was blijkbaar te hoog voor het beeldscherm om aan te kunnen (xorg vond het in ieder geval maar niets, windows doet het gewoon wel zonder er lastig over te doen). Het is dus een simpel geval van evenjes in plaats van 60MHz 58MHz invoeren in gtf.

Wat de volgende output oplevert:

Het is trouwens een Acer 1363WLMi (mocht er ooit nog eens een medetweaker met het zelfde probleem zitten). De ik ben er via Google achter gekomen door een aantal zaken uit Xorg.0.log te halen en te plakken in google, wat me naar die debian site bracht.
