/me The GeForce 6600GT does appear to have eight pixel shader/texture units, which means that it’s not a strict 8x1 design, or a 4x1 design. It’s a hybrid design that is aided by a feature that NVIDIA refer to as a “Fragment Crossbar”. The fragment crossbar essentially assigns the pixels final processing stages to any available pixel output engine (also known as a ROP unit). This basically aids the GPU’s efficiency by removing the possibilities of pipeline stalls and allowing the pixel shading units to work with a high efficiency. This is quite a smart design, and real world performance is certainly not affected by the hybrid structure to the NV43 GPU.
Huisregels. Ofwel, slotje.
