crc errors - 4x 256MB pc3200

Hallo,

ik heb sinds geruime tijd problemen met het openen van RAR`s op mijn PC. De oorzaak hiervan ligt vrij zeker bij mijn geheugen. Ik heb een K7 Upgrade 880 mobo van Asrock en 1024MB RAM verdeelt over 4 modules. Meer gegevens over het RAM kunnen jullie hieronder vinden.

Ik heb al veel dingen uitgeprobeerd om het probleem te verhelpen en dan vooral in mn BIOS alle mogelijke instellingen. Ook verschillende RAR programma`s etc... Niks helpt.

Ik heb veel gezocht op internet, ook de GOT FAQs doorgenomen en andere info op het forum, maar ik zou het liefst advies krijgen over wat ik moet doen aangezien mijn situatie anders is dan die van anderen (vage zin ;) ). Ik hoop dat mijn probleem in deze topic wordt opgelost want ik begin er de %^&*( van te krijgen.

Ik zou het erg op prijs stellen als iemand me kan zeggen:

Wat de beste settings in BIOS zijn qua RAM - dus Latency, snelheid etc.
Dual channel, single channel (Ik hoor wel ns dat met een AMD2200+ de snelheidswinst met Dual Channel niet zo groot is?)
CPU mag overclocked zijn/niet
Wat verder nog aan te raden is :)

Ik hoop dat iemand me een antwoord kan geven waar ik iets aan heb oftewel:die me kan zeggen hoe het moet en dat ik dan die demo RAR`s etc. kan openen ;)

Om te beginnen kan je natuurlijk je geheugen met memtest controleren.

Aangezien Asrock niet bepaald de fabrikant is die met features als AGP/PCI-lock rondstrooit ben ik bang dat je harde schijfcontroller (SATA?) te ver hebt overgeklokt. Je geheugen (PC3200) zou deze snelheid namelijk gemakkelijk aan moeten kunnen, tenzij het kapot is natuurlijk.

Ik ben bang dat dat bord dat niet kan, die draait stug op de bekende 100,133,166 of 200, waarbij de huidige 166 naar mijn mening de juiste keuze is.Oeps dat kan 'ie wel, never mind.

Bij 155 freezed mijn PC al na een tijdje en dit 166 is een nog grotere overklok dan ik nu al heb...

Ik ben trouwens sowieso van plan binnenkort een AMD Athlon XP 3200+ te halen - 400 mHz FSB.

Zou dit de problemen kunnen oplossen/de situatie verbeteren?

Ik draai morgen Memtest - duurt wel erg lang :O

Nog niet gare aardnoot

Dingen die je zelf kan doen voordat je ons vraagt:

1. Overclock terug draaien.
2. Memtest draaien.
3. Rar maken en die testen (ivm corrupte rar's).
4. Dimmetjes een voor een proberen in verschillende banken.
5. Verdiepen in dual channel en het mogelijke nut daarvan (niet voor AMD Athlon XP)
6. In de FAQ lezen dat de beste instellingen door trial & error gevonden worden.
7. Als je PC bij een FSB van 155 mhz instabiel word doorhebben dat op 152 mhz hij op het randje draait en je dit soort dingen kan verwachten.
8. Doorhebben dat IDE/SATA dezelfde problemen hebben met overclocken.
9. Niet gapen wanneer je iets moet doen (zoals memtest).
10. Dan aan ons vertellen wat je gedaan hebt allemaal (specifiek).
10-1 Met een kortere startpost.
10-2 En dan eens kijken of we je verder kunnen helpen.
