Daarin staat het volgende waar ik het wel mee eens ben.
People ask if it makes sense to buy them in the light of the fact that Canon has suggested that they want to eventually move towards full frame sensors and EF-S lenses are not usable on full frame cameras. I think the answer is yes, they do make sense, for the following reasons (assuming you own a compatible 1.6x sensor camera and don't intend to go out and buy a full frame DSLR tomorrow).
* Eventually is a long time! I really can't see a full frame DSLR selling in the consumer price range (say under $2000) appearing in the next 3 years, maybe longer.
* When Canon indicated their goal was towards full frame sensors, they also said "except for entry level cameras", which suggests that the Digital Rebel line will stay at 1.6x for a very long time - and therefore EF-S lenses are here to stay too.
* You can sell a lens. You don't have to marry it! Digital Rebels probably outsell all other Canon DSLRs combined, and digital Rebels plus EOS 20Ds certainly do. There are therefore far more people out there with cameras that can accept EF-S lenses than people with cameras that can't. There is and probably always will be a good market for used EF-S lenses. Even if you buy an EF-S lens today and win the lottery tomorrow and go out and buy a 1Ds MkII, you'll be able to sell your EF-S lens for at least 80% of what you paid for it, maybe more. Even it it's 3 years old, you'll probably still get about 80% of what you paid for it. Good lenses hold their value.
* You buy lenses to use, not to store as investments. If you have an EF-S capable camera and you like the range of an EF-S lens, buy it and use it. If you buy a full frame camera "one day", you may still keep your old 1.6x camera as a backup, or, as above, you can sell the lens. People don't worry too much about buying a $20,000 gasoline powered car even though at some point in the future we'll all probably be driving hybrids, electric cars or hydrogen powered vehicles and gas will be $10/gallon. If you need it now and you can afford it, you buy it and use it now.
